American R&B artist Chris Brown has been remanded in custody by a UK court until June 13 in connection with an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023. The decision, made by District Judge Joanne Hirst at Manchester Magistrate Court on Friday, follows his arrest at a Manchester hotel early Thursday morning.
The 36-year-old singer, known for hits like “Kiss Kiss” now faces uncertainty around his upcoming European tour, with sold-out concerts scheduled for June 8 in the Netherlands and June 11 in Germany. A key court hearing is now set for June 13 at Southwark Crown Court in London, the same day he was due to perform in Germany.
Brown reportedly arrived in the UK via private jet on Wednesday and was arrested at the five-star Lowry Hotel, according to media sources.
This case adds to Brown’s long history of legal troubles. He was convicted in 2009 of felony assault against then-girlfriend Rihanna, and has faced multiple other allegations over the years, including sexual assault and domestic violence. He was also arrested in 2016 after allegedly threatening a woman with a firearm.
Despite his ongoing legal controversies, Brown remains a prominent figure in the music industry, with a career that began in a Virginia church choir and blossomed into global fame and multiple Grammy Awards.
