The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a woman assigned to care for a pregnant teenager, for allegedly abducting and selling her two-week-old baby for ₦3 million.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident was reported to the Ajah Division on May 5, 2025. The 16-year-old mother, known as Miss Happiness, had been placed under the care of one Nonye Osi due to financial hardship.
Investigations revealed that Osi conspired with four others, Akintan Adedayo, Jimoh Bashiru, Elizabeth Bishop, and Bukola Oladapo to move the teenager to an unknown location and illegally sell the newborn.
Following a detailed probe by the Gender/Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the baby was rescued safely in Agemuwo, Badagry, and is now receiving medical care ahead of reuniting with his mother.
The police have confirmed that all suspects are in custody, and full prosecution will follow.
The Command urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
