Al Qaeda-Affiliated Militia Kill 200 Burkinabe Soldiers

More than 200 Burkina Faso soldiers have been killed in an overnight attack in the thousandnaire settlement of Djibo in Loroum Province of the country.
The attack by a local militant group affiliated to Al- Qaeda, called Nusrat Al- Islam wal- Muslim, came as neighbouring Mali and Ivory Coast suffered multiple simultaneous attacks by local militia groups.

The assault on the military base was the single largest since Burkina Faso, under junta leader, Ibrahim Traore, turned down political and diplomatic relations with the West.
It came just days after Traore visited Russia during the anniversary celebration marking the end of the Second World War , on May 8.
It is thought to country.

Burkina Faso has lost much of its territory to the terrorists , elements of which are suspected of mounting the deadly in Djibo.
Aside from Mali, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, other African nations, including Chad, Nigeria, Nigeria and Cameroun face significant terrorism and other forms of insecurity foisted by militia groups linked to Al- Qaeda, Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
