NSF Torch Arrives Asaba Tuesday
Asaba, the capital of Delta State, will come alive with national pride and cultural display as it receives the Unity Torch of the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
The torch, which symbolizes peace, unity, and sportsmanship, is scheduled to be officially received by the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at a colourful and ceremonial reception expected to attract athletes, dignitaries, and sports lovers.
The Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, described the event as a significant moment for the state. “This is more than a ceremonial event; it reflects our collective identity as Nigerians. Sports continue to serve as a vehicle for unity, youth empowerment, and national growth,” he stated.
According to Franka Okonma, Director of Public Relations at the Delta State Sports Commission, the ceremony will feature a symbolic relay of the torch through major streets in Asaba, traditional cultural performances, a special banquet, and goodwill messages from key stakeholders in the Nigerian sports community.
As the countdown to the festival’s official opening in Ogun State on May 17, 2025, continues, Delta State , renowned for its dominance in Nigerian sports and champions of the 2022 edition, reaffirms its leadership role in sports development and national integration.
