An explosion believed to have been caused by fuel laden tanker accident engulfed scores of citizens on Karu – Nyanya road bridge in the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), Abuja.
A yet to be ascertained number of citizens especially those returning from their places of work were trapped in the raging inferno.
The devastating explosion resulting from the tanker explosion rocked the Karu-Nyanya Road bridge in Abuja.
The massive inferno according to eye witnesses engulfed many vehicles, while several people were feared dead on Wednesday evening.
Eyewitnesses said the explosion occurred in three successive accidents involving a tanker conveying inflamables.
The explosion sent thick smoke billowing into the sky thus causing panic as motorists and other road users scampered for safety.
Fire was still raging even as fire fighters and some sister agencies tried in vain to contain the inferno.
Scores of citizens were seen wailing uncontrollably.
