Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has formally defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The lawmaker collected her ADC membership card in Abuja, where she explained that her decision was informed by the need to strengthen her political platform and more effectively deliver democratic dividends to residents of the FCT.
Senator Kingibe called on members of the ADC to work collectively to ensure the party’s success in the 2026 Area Council elections and the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the event, former ADC National Chairman, Ralphs Okey-Nwosu, said the party was strategically positioned to win all Area Council chairmanship seats in the FCT, as well as secure National Assembly positions.
Also addressing party members, the ADC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, welcomed Senator Kingibe to the party and assured her of the party’s readiness and commitment to achieving victory in future elections.
The event also featured the presentation of ADC flags to the party’s candidates contesting chairmanship positions in the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory.
