The Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Senator Abba Moro, PhD, has said that life and death remain firmly in the hands of God, noting that no human being has the power to determine when one is born or when one is called home.
Senator Moro made this heartfelt remark during the burial ceremony of late Pa Christopher Abah at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Epaegbo Otukpa, in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Speaking with deep emotion, the lawmaker reflected on the mystery of life, observing that while some are taken away at very tender ages — even before seeing the light of day — Pa Abah was granted the grace of a long and fulfilled life, one that touched many hearts and shaped countless lives.
Fighting back tears, Senator Moro described the late Pa Abah as more than a community elder, calling him a father figure whose counsel, kindness, and values left a lasting impression on everyone who encountered him. He urged the children and family members of the deceased to honour their father by holding fast to the principles he lived by and preserving the legacy he so selflessly built.
In a moving response on behalf of the family, Prof. Abah fondly referred to Senator Moro as his father’s “political son” and expressed profound gratitude for his presence, noting that his decision to personally attend the burial was a powerful gesture of love and solidarity in a time of grief.
In a related engagement later in the day, Senator Moro also attended the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel and Victoria at the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, in Okpokwu Local Government Area. Sharing words drawn from faith and experience, he reminded the newly married couple that love, patience, and God’s guidance are the pillars upon which a lasting home is built.
