Nigerian activist and public figure Uba Sandra Chisom has recounted the recurring pain she relives every December following the death of her husband, who was killed by kidnappers in 2022.
Chisom shared the reflection in a post on her verified Instagram page, @the_victorious_chisom, where she spoke about grief, loss and the silent struggles many people endure during the festive season.
According to her, December 2022 marked a turning point in her life, as it was the period her husband was killed, leaving her widowed. She described the experience as one of the most painful chapters of her life, noting that the Christmas season, often associated with joy and celebration, has since become a time of mourning for her.
“This season is loud with joy, but some of us carry silent tears,” she wrote, explaining that while many prepare for festivities and family gatherings, she continues to grieve the loss that changed her life permanently.
Chisom, a vocal advocate for widows and justice, has since channelled her personal tragedy into activism. She has consistently used her platform to speak against insecurity and kidnapping in Nigeria, while offering encouragement and support to others who have suffered similar losses.
Her post has drawn widespread reactions on social media, with followers expressing sympathy, solidarity and admiration for her resilience and willingness to share her story.
