The Nwoko family had cause for celebration on Wednesday as Brigadier General Kingsley Nwoko was formally decorated with his new rank of Major General at an investiture ceremony held at the Nigerian Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja.
The ceremony, which drew senior military officers, top government officials, and family members, marked the elevation of several officers whose careers have been defined by professionalism, sacrifice, and service to the nation.
Among the newly promoted officers was Maj. Gen. Kingsley Nwoko, brother to Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, who was present to witness and honour the milestone. Kingsley’s promotion from Brigadier General to Major General came as part of the Army’s latest round of appointments and recognitions for officers who have exhibited exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to national security.
Speaking after the ceremony, Senator Ned Nwoko described the moment as one of immense pride for the Nwoko family and for the entire Anioma nation. He noted that service, discipline, and dedication have long been core values in their family—virtues he said his brother has embodied throughout his military career.
“Kingsley’s elevation to Major General is a well-deserved recognition of years of hard work, dedication, and unwavering service to the Nigerian Army and to our nation,” the senator said, adding that both the family and the Anioma community are proud of his accomplishments.
The ceremony ended with warm congratulations, photographs, and an atmosphere of celebration as the newly decorated officers embarked on the next chapter of their service to the country.
