A High Court in Abuja has reportedly issued a restraining order preventing Nollywood actress Regina Daniels from making any social-media posts related to her ongoing marital issues.
The interim order, issued yesterday, bars Daniels from sharing details of the dispute until the court fully hears the case.
According to reports, the application was filed by her husband, who argued that public posts about their disagreement could negatively impact the wellbeing of their child. Under Nigerian law, especially in family and custody matters, the best interest of the child is paramount.
This legal principle empowers the court to restrict either parent from engaging in actions—online or offline—that could emotionally, mentally, or socially harm the child. Even if both adults consent to publicising their conflict, the court’s duty is to protect the child from unnecessary exposure and potential long-term consequences.
