The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Cyril Ndifon, to five years in prison for sexually harassing his female students.
In a hard-hitting judgment, Justice James Omotosho found Ndifon guilty on two of four charges brought by the ICPC, even as he freed his co-accused, lawyer Sunny Anyanwu, for lack of evidence.
The court ruled that Ndifon, while serving as Dean, demanded obscene photos from his students—one of whom, identified as “TJK,” told the court he pressured her via WhatsApp for “indecent and pornographic images.”
Ndifon denied everything and brought a forensic analyst from the ONSA to back his claims. But the judge dismissed his defence, holding that the prosecution’s evidence was compelling enough to convict him.
He received two years on one count and five on another, with the sentences to run concurrently.
