..National Headquarters Takes Position on Adamawa Party Leadership
The national headquarters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed concern over what it described as a growing division within the ranks of the party’s leadership in Adamawa State.
Notably, Adamawa is home to prominent national figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, both regarded as influential members of the ADC in the state.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary (NPS), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC recalled that at its National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held on October 8, 2025, it had approved the constitution of Interim Executive Committees to oversee party affairs in various states pending new congresses.
Following a review of recent developments, the NWC affirmed that the October 25 process in Adamawa State, which was supervised by the National Vice Chairman (North East) and produced Barrister Sadiq Dasin as the Interim State Chairman, was conducted in line with the party’s approval and guidelines.
“In view of the foregoing,” the statement read, “the party urges all members involved in any parallel arrangement to have a rethink and embrace the path of reconciliation. Similarly, the new interim chairman is encouraged to extend a hand of fellowship to all and address genuine grievances.”
The ADC reiterated its commitment to fairness, justice, and internal democracy, assuring members that all legitimate concerns will be addressed. However, it warned that the party “will not tolerate any act of indiscipline that could undermine ongoing efforts to build a strong and truly democratic organization.”
