In grand style, the Senatorial hopeful for Benue South, Dr. David Olofu, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, stormed Ohimini and Otukpo, the traditional and political capital of the Idoma Nation, as part of his consultation tour ahead of the 2025 general elections.
The visit was greeted with excitement and cultural pageantry as Dr. Olofu met with the Otukpo Traditional Council, local government officials, and executives of the 23 council wards in the federal constituency.
SEEKING ROYAL BLESSING
Dr. Olofu paid courtesy visits to the palaces of the Och’Otokpo Odu, Dr. John Onuminya Eimonye, and the Ad’Ohimini, Dr. John Ochai, where he received royal blessings and prayers for success in his senatorial ambition.
In his addresses at the various events, Dr. Olofu emphasized that his mandate, if elected, would bear the collective imprimatur of the entire Benue South Senatorial District, pledging to ensure fairness, inclusivity, and even distribution of development projects across all local government areas.

Outlining his development blueprint, Dr. Olofu pledged to:
- Establish a robust Senatorial Constituency Office in Otukpo.
- Collate the development needs of the people and address them according to priority.
- Collaborate with traditional rulers and security agencies to curb insecurity and herdsmen attacks.
- Prioritize education, rural road construction, healthcare, agriculture, and access to potable water.
