The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has carried out Nigeria’s largest drug destruction exercise, burning 1.6 million kilograms of illicit substances in Ogun State. The operation included massive seizures from Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo, featuring cannabis, cocaine, heroin, codeine, tramadol, skuchies, and methamphetamine.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd), called the event a bold statement to drug traffickers saying, “We will find you, prosecute you, and destroy your poison.”
The agency confirmed that all destroyed drugs had gone through full legal processes. The event was witnessed by top officials, security agencies, and international partners, highlighting NDLEA’s transparency and zero-tolerance stance.
With over 10,500 convictions in four years, NDLEA continues to lead Nigeria’s fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
The NDLEA noted that “Every gram destroyed is a win for public health, safety, and national security.”
