Receives Royal Blessings from Apa and Agatu Traditional Councils
In what has been described as a defining moment for the Benue South Senatorial District, Dr. David Olofu, President of the Apa Legacy and Sustainability Initiatives, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Senate seat of Benue South.
The declaration, which took place in Ugbokpo and Obagaji, was greeted with thunderous applause, traditional pageantry, and heartfelt blessings from royal fathers, political leaders, and thousands of enthusiastic supporters who turned out in their numbers to witness the historic event.
Dr. Olofu was honoured with the revered traditional title of “Ojimeli K’Apa” by the Odejo K’Apa, Chief John Antenyi, in recognition of his enduring service, humility, and developmental strides across Apa land.
The monarch, while invoking the ancestral spirit Alekwu and the Almighty God, declared:
“Tabeje, tabeje, tabeje. All my predecessors will fight for you to bring home victory. And the Almighty God will lead you to victory.”
In a similar spirit of unity, the Ada’Agatu, Dr. Godwin Onah, extended royal blessings and urged all Agatu sons and daughters to rally behind Dr. Olofu’s senatorial bid, stating:
“We thank God that we now have someone who has volunteered to go for the position. It is incumbent on us to support him stoutly.”
Addressing traditional leaders, party faithful, and supporters at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariats in Apa and Agatu, Dr. Olofu outlined his vision for a renewed, prosperous, and secure Benue South Senatorial District.
He pledged to deliver purposeful representation, attract federal presence, and champion youth and women empowerment through practical policies and investment-driven initiatives.
Dr. Olofu, a former Benue State Commissioner of Finance and Chairman of the Forum of Commissioners of Finance in Nigeria, assured the people that his experience and deep understanding of governance would be fully deployed to advance the development of Benue South.
“If given the opportunity, I know how to leverage on government systems to attract development projects to every nook and cranny of our senatorial district,” he affirmed.
He further promised to establish industrial corridors across the district to create jobs, curb youth restiveness, and unlock the vast potentials of the River Benue and the district’s mineral resources for inclusive growth.
The declaration was a celebration of unity and hope as jubilant crowds poured into the venues, chanting solidarity songs and pledging unwavering support for Dr. Olofu’s vision of a greater Benue South.
Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Apa and Agatu reaffirmed their confidence in his candidacy, describing Dr. Olofu as a man of vision, generosity, and integrity whose numerous scholarships, empowerment programs, and community initiatives have transformed many lives across the zone.
“With Dr. David Olofu, Benue South is ready to reclaim its voice and chart a new course for prosperity, peace, and progress,” one of the party leaders declared.
