Senator Iyiola Omisore has formally announced his bid to contest for the governorship of Osun State in the 2026 elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a personally signed statement released on Saturday, Omisore said: “After deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
According to the statement, his official declaration will take place on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, at the APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
Omisore explained that his campaign will run on the theme, “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.” He also expressed optimism in the collective strength of the people, stating: “I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission; it is a collective one.”
The former Deputy Governor called on supporters and APC members to join him in what he described as a shared vision for the state’s renewal. “I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he said.
Omisore, who previously served as Senator representing Osun East from 2003 to 2011, has contested for the Osun governorship in the past but has yet to secure victory.
