There is excitement among commuters as the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed that train operations on the Abuja–Kaduna corridor will resume on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
In a statement issued by the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the Corporation said the resumption follows the completion of extensive repairs and safety checks on the damaged section of track near Asham Station.
Unyimadu assured passengers that safety and comfort remain the Corporation’s top priorities, adding that the recent suspension of service was necessary to ensure the highest safety standards.
The NRC also disclosed that ticket refunds have been processed for 512 out of the 583 passengers affected by the derailment of August 26, 2025. The Corporation expressed regret over the disruption caused and thanked passengers for their patience.
The Abuja–Kaduna rail line, one of the country’s busiest passenger corridors, has remained a vital link for thousands of travelers who depend on it for business and daily commute. Its resumption is expected to ease pressure on road transport along the route.
