Police in Anambra State have arrested 49-year-old Nnamdi Anyaji for allegedly murdering his 68-year-old mother, Mrs Dorathy Anyaji, following a dispute over proceeds from a cassava business.
The incident occurred in Amudo Village, Ekwulobia, and was confirmed by police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga. Officers recovered an axe believed to have been used in the crime, and the suspect is under close observation after attempting suicide. He will face charges after investigations.
In a separate operation the same day, police raided a suspected drug den in Umuokpala Village, Orumba North LGA, arresting 12 young men aged 20–29 and seizing quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit substances.
The suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the NDLEA for further investigation.
