The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has cautioned residents against giving bribes or inducements to officers on duty, stressing that the practice is unlawful and fuels corruption within the Force.
In a statement released via its official handle on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the Command reminded the public that officers are expected to discharge their duties without external interference.
“It is unlawful to offer our officers money or inducements while they are on duty. Allow them to carry out their responsibilities diligently and without interference,” the statement read.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and accountability in policing the nation’s capital, urging residents to cooperate with officers in ensuring safety and security.
It also encouraged the public to report misconduct by any officer through the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) on 08107314192 or the FCT Command’s emergency line, 08032003913.
