Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has challenged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over threats to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of its forthcoming national convention.
Speaking on Tuesday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, Governor Mohammed reacted to reports that Wike and his allies were plotting to raise a counter-force against the party’s convention, scheduled to take place in Ibadan from November 15 to 16.
In a strongly worded statement, the Bauchi governor dismissed Wike’s threats and warned against undermining the party’s unity.
“If anybody wants to form a faction of fools, we will allow him. We are not cowards and we are not afraid of any person.
We agree to consensus and accommodation, but that is not cowardice.
We can’t keep quiet and allow people to continue to take us to the slaughter house or take us for granted. Enough is enough,” Mohammed declared.
The remarks mark an escalation in the internal crisis within the PDP, as the party struggles to maintain cohesion ahead of the Ibadan convention.
