The Oza-Nogogo Community in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State on Saturday, unveiled a newly built and furnished security building.
Part of the epoch event was the equipping of the vigilante group in the community with a Suzuki Bus, five new Qlink Motorcycles, security uniforms, walkie talkie and other security gadgets.
In his address, the Chairman, Oza-Nogogo Security Committee, Engr Salami Imade Augustine, said that the day marked a significant milestone in the collective pursuit of safety and security in the community.
He noted that the concept of having a viable security outfit for Oza-Nogogo was a childbirth of members of Oza-Nogogo Elite Foundation,a body that has been committed to the development of the community.
According to Engr Salami, the event was in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government” which was to ensure the adequate protection of lives and property. He appreciated the Chairman of Ika South local Government, Hon(Engr) Jerry Ehiwarior, for approving the security outfit.
He thanked the Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force, Agbor Area Command, ACP Adolphus Ogwuh, for lecturing members of Oza Nogogo Vigilance Group on discipline and protection of lives and property.
He also acknowledged the support and encouragement of the Divisional Police Officer,Agbor Division,CSP Michael Obekpa, urging them not to relent the good works they are doing for the public.
He went further to thank Oza-Nogogo sons and daughters both home and abroad who made the project on security in the community a huge success through their generous donations.
He disclosed that Oza-Nogogo Security Committee had realized the sum of #47,751,301.00((Forty-Seven Million,Seven Hundred and Fifty-One Thousand,,Three Hundred and One Naira) In cash and a Suzuki Bus worth #4 million. He asserted that the exemplary role of Oza-Nogogo children towards the development of their community was worth emulating by other communities.
He used the medium to appeal to all children of the community who are yet to support the efforts to secure Oza-Nogogo and its environ to key into the project. He promised that every donation from every son or daughter of Oza-Nogogo will be highly appreciated as security was continuous.
“Please donate and don’t forget that the more we sweat in peace the less we bleed in war,” he pleaded.
He expressed appreciation to members of the Oza-Nogogo Security Committee for their tireless efforts that culminated in the successful unveiling of the community’s vigilante group building.
In his key note address, the President- General, Oza-Nogogo Community, Pastor Vincent Iyoha, said that when the clarion call was made for communities to get involved in frontline security due to the incessant attacks of innocent villagers by miscreants the people of Oza-Nogogo keyed into it.
According to Pastor Iyoha, “Today, I am happy that our dream to assist the Law enforcement agencies in securing our community was a good report for all to see.I want to thank the Hon Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr Jerry Ehiwarior for his support. I know he will still assist us to provide more vehicles and motorbikes for emergency mobilization of men and materials during unforeseen attacks.
As a community, we also thank the Nigeria Police Force for the assistance in giving morale to our vigilante group. We are still pleading to the NPF to continue to visit the vigilante group in our community for periodic guidelines on security matters”.
He specially thanked the Ogisi of Oza -Nogogo, Ogisi Okor Etiosa, for his support and fatherly blessing towards the actualization of the security project.

My sincere appreciation also goes to Engr.Imade Salami and his able team for a job well done.
“To our vigilante men and women, to whom much is given much is expected . You must not misplace the trust given to you . You must act within the powers of protecting our people and report any suspected behavior or event to the Nigeria Police Force. You should never take laws into your hands.
“I want to state that I am indeed grateful that this achievement was recorded during my tenure as the PG of Oza-Nogogo. To God be all the glory.
I specially thank the Oza-Nogogo Elite Foundation for the initiative and for driving the process to a logical conclusion,” he said.
Speaking through his representative, Hon Donald Okonta, the Chairman, Ika South Local Government, Hon(Engr) Jerry Ehiwarior reiterated the commitment of his administration i
to the protection of lives and property of the people of the area.
He applauded Oza-Nogogo Community for joining efforts with government and security agencies to secure their land.
He declared that his administration would keep supporting Oza-Nogogo and other communities in Ika South in the quest to make the local government a safe haven for all its residents.
Meanwhile, the Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force, Agbor Area Command, ACP Adolphus Ogwuh hailed Oza-Nogogo Community for the strong synergy with the police in the fight against insecurity.
He noted that the milestone achieved by the community in the area of security is worth emulating. While urging members of the Community to remain committed in their resolve to help secure lives and properties in the area, he charged the Vigilante members to discharge their duties responsibly as stipulated by law. He said that no one is beyond the law, hence, anyone who goes against it will be penalized without any fear or favour. He assured the Vigilante members of his full support as they work together to secure Oza-Nogogo and its envirom
The Divisional Police Officer, Nigeria Police Force, Agbor, CSP Michael Obekpa, also promised to support the Oza-Nogogo Vigilante group in the areas of training and supervision. He warned against any form of indiscipline among the Vigilante members, declaring that the security of Oza-Nogogo should be their utmost priority.
Meanwhile, Ogisi Ekor Etiosa, in his remark, said that he was very proud of his sons and daughters who are always contributing immensely towards the growth and development of Oza-Nogogo. He prayed that the Almighty God will continue to bless them with good health and more successes in all their endeavors.
Also in his remark, the President, Oza-Nogogo Elite Foundation, Mr Uche Ebu, expressed joy over the successful completion and commissioning of the Oza-Nogogo Security building. He commended all indigenes of the Community who made the project a reality. He assured that OEF will continue to support efforts aimed at moving Oza-Nogogo forward.
Two of the revered elders in the community, Chief(Barr) Ben Oriahi and Prince Victor Enabulele, in their separate remarks, said that they were overwhelmed with joy over the accomplishments of laudable projects in Oza-Nogogo.
They stated that Oza-Nogogo is a unique community blessed with both human and natural resources. Both specially thanked Ogisi Ekor Etiosa and all natives of Oza-Nogogo for their selfless services to their community.
The high point of the event was the official commissioning of the security building by the Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force, Agbor Area Command, ACP Adolphus Ogwuh.
