The news of the sudden exit of Dr Solomon Ehigiator Arase hit me like a thunder bolt.
Arase was the last person that could be expected to pass on just like that. As fit as a fiddle, Arase was blessed with robust health and sound mind.
One of the most gifted Intelligence officers ever to walk the Nigerian soil, Arase was a silent but diligent worker who led several operations in that genre of policing in Nigeria and beyond.
My relationship with Arase began almost three decades ago and it blossomed to Egbon and Aburo family-like bond we shared until his passing.
Arase would rank among the best Inspector-Generals in the annals of career policing in Nigeria and his colleagues and juniors always speak of his largeness of heart, his humanity and sense of fairness and equity.
At a mere 69 year-old, Fate, unkind and ruthless, robbed him of the many years in the company of his family; children and grandchildren and the meritorious services in store for him.
It’s very hard for me to come to terms that Arase who participated behind the scenes in my recent 80th Birthday celebrations had left this terrain and had commenced his journey in the Continuum.
God night Solomon.
May his gallant soul rest in peace and may all those left behind find comfort in the Lord 🙏
