ADC Disowns Nafiu Bala, Labels Him an Impostor
The Gombe State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from Honourable Nafiu Bala, describing him as a fraudster and impostor who has no standing in the party.
Bala, who recently addressed the press as “National Chairman” of the ADC, accused the leadership led by Senator David Mark of hijacking the party and violating its constitution. He vowed to challenge what he described as a “shameful political takeover orchestrated by outsiders” in court, while alleging that party structures had been unlawfully surrendered to political figures with no ties to the ADC.
But in a strongly worded rebuttal, the Gombe State chapter clarified that Bala is neither a registered member of the ADC nor authorized to speak for the party at any level.
According to the statement, Bala’s earlier inclusion in the party’s National Executive Committee was an error which was later corrected. His resignation, the party added, was formally received and transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on July 21, 2025.
The letter stressed:
> “Following recent misleading claims by Honourable Nafiu Bala in the media, purporting to speak or act on behalf of the ADC at the national level, we have thoroughly reviewed our official ward membership register and can confirm with absolute certainty that his name does not appear in the records of registered members. This attempt to falsely represent himself as a party member and leader amounts to political impersonation and is a gross violation of the values and constitutional framework of our great party.”
The ADC described Bala as “merely a political merchant seeking undue attention” and urged the public, media, and relevant authorities to disregard his statements. It also called on the national leadership of the party to take appropriate disciplinary steps to safeguard the image and integrity of the ADC.
The letter, dated August 6, 2025, was jointly signed by Jafar Muhammad (Chairman), Muazu Abdullahi (Vice Chairman), and Abubakar Garba (Secretary). Others who endorsed it include Ibrahim Shuaibu (Organizing Secretary), Abdulrahman Abubakar (Youth Leader), and Man Yanbiyu (Women Leader).
Reaffirming its commitment, the Gombe ADC leadership declared:
> “The African Democratic Congress remains committed to internal democracy, accountability, and respect for due process. We will not allow opportunists or impostors to distort our mission.”
