Many communities in Yobe State were submerged on Friday following a heavy downpour.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mohammed Goje, said the agency received alerts on the downpour in parts of the state in the early hours of Friday.
Goje said SEMA’s field team had been deployed to assess the damage, adding that no lives had been lost as of the time of reporting.
“A detailed assessment is currently ongoing, and the government has pledged to provide life-saving support, protection, and response immediately,” he stated.
According to reports the flood impacted several areas, including Old Prison, Filin Mashe, Unguwar Makafi, Unguwar Jaje Bakin Kwari, and Afghanistan wards. Others affected are Tsangaya, Karofi, Bayan Garejin Dan Juma, Jigawa Bayan Makarahuta, and Tandari ward.
