Another jailbreak has rocked the Keffi Correctional Centre, with at least 14 inmates escaping from the facility on Tuesday, reliable local sources told THE RADARR.
This latest incident revives memories of the dramatic August 15, 2019 breakout, when no fewer than 50 inmates fled the same prison amid protests over alleged poor feeding and inadequate medical care. At the time, prisoners had repeatedly complained that their health was deteriorating, sparking unrest that drew the intervention of the then Inspector General of Police. Prison authorities, however, denied the incident.
Details surrounding Tuesday’s escape remain sketchy, and as of press time, officials of the Keffi Correctional Centre have yet to issue an official statement.
