Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a firm warning against election malpractice, declaring that any politicians planning to rig the 2027 elections should “write their will” first.
Speaking on Thursday during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians at the Government House in Umuahia, as shown in a video shared on Channels Television’s YouTube page — Otti emphasized that both God’s will and the people’s choice would determine the outcome of the next election in the state.
“I’ve heard some people saying they must take over this state and even write results,” the governor said. “My advice to them is simple; if they’re really planning to write results, they should first write something else: their will.”
Otti made the statement while responding to a question about remarks reportedly made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who had suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in 2027.
The governor’s warning comes amid early political maneuvering ahead of the next Abia governorship election. Otti, a Labour Party member, ended over two decades of PDP dominance in the state following his victory in the 2023 elections.
