Abuja, June 19, 2025 — In a bold political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) has initiated the formal process to register a new political party aimed at breaking the longstanding dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The proposed party, named the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), is being championed by influential figures across the Nigerian political landscape who say they are disillusioned with the current state of governance under the APC-led administration.
Key political figures involved in the coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former President of the Senate, David Mark, former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, former Kaduna state governor Nasir El Rufai and the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi among others.
Today, the coalition submitted all necessary documentation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja to formalize the registration process.
The formal application followed the resolutions at a pivotal meeting of the New Platform Committee held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at which decisions were made for the formation and registration of the proposed party, the formation of a political association by the name of All Democratic Alliance (ADA), the
authorization of the application to INEC for registration as a political party under the same name, as well as the approval for the party’s logo, slogan, motto, manifesto, and constitution.
There were also resolutions on the interim leadership of the proposed party, with the naming of Chief Akin A. Ricketts as Proterm Chairman and Abdullahi Musa Elayo as Proterm National Secretary, as well as operational directives, by mandating the interim leadership to secure a suitable office space for party operation, complete the registration process with INEC, open a party bank account upon successful registration, and operate it in accordance with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act (2022).
The meeting was chaired by Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who serves as Chairman of the New Platform Committee, while Dr. Umar Ardo, served as Secretary.
If successfully registered, ADA could become a major force in reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape, by offering a credible alternative to the APC and PDP in the 2027 elections.
