2027: APC South South Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori, Others for Second Term
The South South chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, today, endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including Delta State Governor, Rt. Sheriff Oborevwori, for second terms in office, signaling early alignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was the major highlight of the APC South South stakeholders’ meeting held today in Benin City, where party leaders and delegates from across the region gathered to review the political landscape and strategize for the future.
In a communiqué presented at the end of the meeting, the APC National Vice Chairman (South South), Hon. Victor Gaidom, announced the unanimous decision of the stakeholders to adopt President Bola Tinubu, Governors Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Umo Eno, (Akwa-Ibom), Bassey Otu (Cross River) and Monday Okpboholo (Edo) as the party’s consensus candidates for the 2027 elections.
Gaidom stated that the governors had demonstrated remarkable leadership and performance in their respective states, making them worthy of reelection.
Governor Oborevwori, who is currently on official assignment with President Tinubu in Brazil, was represented at the meeting by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme,FCA.
Oborevwori’s endorsement by the APC South South stakeholders is considered a significant boost to his political standing and sets the tone for intensified preparations toward securing a second term in Dennis Osadebey House.
The stakeholders also praised President Bola Tinubu’s efforts in economic reform, infrastructure development, and national security, pledging their unwavering support for his reelection bid.
The motion for the adoption, which was moved by Prof Julius Ihonvbere and seconded by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was unanimously adopted by all stakeholders.
With the endorsement of both the President and the four governors in the region, the APC is consolidating its base and building early momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.
