The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have eliminated two senior Iranian Quds Force commanders, Saeed Izadi and Behnam Shahriyari in an overnight operation.
In a statement released Saturday by the IDF, Saeed Izadi was described as “the coordinator between and Iranian regime and Hamas terrorist organisation, and one of the founding figures behind Iran’s plan to destroy Israel.” The IDF also stated that “he was responsible for military coordination between top commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and key figures in the Hamas terrorist organisation.”
According to the statement, Izadi was “one of the main orchestrators of the October 7 massacre in Israel, and also maintained direct contact with Palestinian terror organisation in Gaza, Judea and Samaria.”
The IDF further revealed that “Behnam Shahriyari was Commander of the Quds Force’s Weapon Transfer Unit in the IRGC.” He was said to be “responsible for all weapon transfers from the Iranian regime to its proxies across the Middle East, directly advancing the regime’s plan to destroy the State of Israel.”
The military noted that “he supplied many of the missiles and rockets that were fired towards Israeli territory during the war.” Shahriyari was also reported to have “unique connections in Turkey and Lebanon where he oversaw the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars annually to various terrorist organisations using a network of shell companies, money changers, and couriers.”
The IDF also announced a “precision strike overnight that targeted Iranian missile crews preparing to launch surface-to-surface missiles at Israeli territory.”
Scores have been killed in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Tehran, Iran, as well as in other parts of both countries, as the ongoing exchange of missile barrages continues into another week.
