President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given tacit approval to building of ranches as against open grazing of cattle in order to end the unabating bloodletting in Benue.
Tinubu also gave Marching Orders to Service Chiefs to go after the perpetrators of Benue Massacre even as he expressed worries that no arrest have been made days after the killings in Yelwata.
Addressing the government and people of Benue State during his visit to the troubled spots and hospitals, the President urged the people to unite and fight the enemies and not against themselves.
President Tinubu lamented the level of carnage and devastation in Benue and said never again would this happen in any part of Nigeria.
He was optimistic that going after the criminals and building ranches for the cattle would end the incessant bloodletting in Benue State.
Tinubu canvassed for peace and peaceful coexistence in Benue saying “we must learn to live in peace and be our brother’s keepers at all times.”
He commiserated with the government and people of Benue State and said enough is enough. Tinubu also promised to redevelop the affected communities.
To further address the crisis in Benue, he directed Governor Hyacinth Alia to empanel a high powered Peace Committee of elders to include the Tor-Tiv, James Ayatse and the Och’Idoma, Elaigwu Odogbo John to find lasting solution to the crisis in Benue.
Governor Alia had after taking the president round the devastated spots, told his guest of the monumental loss of lives and property.
