June 12: Engr Chukwuedo charges Nigerian leaders on accountability
An entrepreneur and former Labour Party chairmanship aspirant in the 2024 local government election in Ika North East, Delta State, Engr Sylvester Chukwuedo, has charged Nigerian political leaders to be transparent and accountable in their various activities in government.
Engr Chukwuedo, who is the Chief Executive Officer, CHS Motors Ltd, gave the charge while speaking on the state of the nation during this year’s Democracy Day celebration on June 12.
He said that Nigeria had, over the years, suffered a huge economic challenge owing to poor governance from corrupt political office holders, who unfortunately, “have remained unrepentant, despite their great disservice and damage to the country.”
He noted that “Nigeria is a great nation, blessed with both human and natural resources” but, a large percentage of her citizens had been subjected to poverty by corrupt political leaders who he said have been ripping off the country’s economy.
He stated that full democratic practice was yet to be applied in Nigeria as every government in power focuses on continuity , rather than prioritizing the welfare of the people.
He added that no country in the world attains a higher height if its leaders are undemocratic, selfish and visionless.
He urged all well meaning Nigerians to wake up from slumber and support efforts to restore the lost glory of the country. The Labour Party chieftain asserted that he is truly committed to the growth and development of Nigeria and would l
not in any way be part of plans to destroy the country.
While expressing the hope that Nigeria would stand tall again in the comity of nations, the Ute -Erumu born businessman called for the total support of all for the better Nigerian project which, according to him, ” is very realistic”.
