…UK Deploys Jets to Middle East as Israel-Iran Crisis Deepens
Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died in the hospital following Israeli airstrikes across Iran, Iranian media reported on Saturday.
Shamkhani, who previously served for a decade as Iran’s top national security official, played a key role in the China-brokered reconciliation talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
His death marks a pivotal moment in the rapidly escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, which has intensified significantly in recent days.
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer has announced the deployment of RAF jets to the Middle East, following threats from Iran to target UK, French, and US military bases if those nations assist in halting strikes on Israel.
The Prime Minister stated that additional military resources are being sent to offer “contingency support” across the region, as tensions between the two long-standing adversaries continue to rise.
This development comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to “hit every nuclear site of the Ayatollahs’ regime” in Iran.
Both nations exchanged missile and air strikes on Saturday, after Israel launched a series of intense attacks targeting key components of Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure.
