Delta Police Nab Man, wife For Alleged Illegal Arms Possession
The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested a couple for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
The command, in a post on its Facebook Wall, said Kingsley Ugochukwu,40, was nabbed in a restaurant, where, on sighting operatives of the Police Buffalo Team, allegedly heave a locally-made pistol into a nearby bush.
The post claimed that the pistol was later recovered by the team.
It added that, in the course of the investigation, the suspect allegedly directed his unnamed wife, by phone call, to throw away a long- range single barrel gun in his bedroom.
But he was unlucky. The police allegedly intercepted the call, and their subsequent actions led to the arrest of the wife whose statement reportedly led to the recovery of the gun from an uncompleted building into which she had heaved it, allegedly on the instructions of her husband.
The post said that the couple would be arraigned on completion of ongoing investigations.
