UNIDEL Registrar Urges Staff To Improve Service Quality
The Registrar of the University of Delta( Unidel), Agbor, Barr. Richmond Omagbemi, has called on staff of the university to fully embrace the institution’s vision and mission, stressing that some staff were yet to ‘”catch the fire.”
Speaking in an exclusive interview with UNIDEL Media, the Registrar underscored the importance of all staff, both teaching and non- teaching to scale up, as the education landscape was constantly evolving.
Commenting on the impact of staff training and retraining, Barr. Omagbemi said that the reaction rate was slow, and said most staff were imbibing the new culture, but very slowly.
“I expect that staff should be able to catch the fire faster than what they are doing;
they need to be proactive in embracing change and innovative practices in order to be fully committed to the university’s shared Vision.”
He, however, expressed satisfaction with staff dressing which had improved tremendously.
On the maiden University Convocation which is expected to hold in November, 2025, he disclosed that the Committee was already functioning in full gear with various Sub Committees also working assiduously.
He added that the event would be colourful and historic with the Delta State Governor and prominent figures at state and national levels expected to grace the occasion.
On the issue of collaboration, the Registrar stated that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, in her wisdom, had set up the Exchanges and Linkages Directorate in a bid to go beyond the collaboration already established with the Lincoln University.
“We are trying to have collaboration and linkages with any university that we find worthy and share common Mission in some particular disciplines. The university will be willing to do that as Management is ready to come in when appropriate.”
In another development, the Registrar disclosed that New Dean’s and HODs might come on board by September 1,;2025, following due process. Similarly, he said, the second Students Union Government election which would be done electronically, would take place in June, 2025.
While projecting that the university’s ranking would improve tremendously
based on the level of visibility so far attained, Barr. Omagbemi commended the University Media Team for their commitment and efforts in projecting the institution’s image and reputation .
“On a serious note, the Media unit is doing well but needs more exposure in terms of professional development. They need to attend courses and workshops to really sharpen their productive capability and make them more modern”
On the second semester examination coming up soon, he urged all staff to show more dedication, especially in the areas of result processing and uploading. He charged them to be humble enough to seek assistance where necessary as the CBT and examination monitoring committees had all been activated for a seamless exercise.
