Mokwa Flood Tragedy:
200 Corpses Recovered So Far-Commissioner

More than 200 corpses have been recovered from the ruins of flooded communities in Mokwa ,Niger State.
The figure is a significant rise in the tally earlier given by the state government.
Yet, the search for more bodies remains ongoing, according to the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmad Suleiman.
He said on Channels Television today that no one was sure of the actual number of casualties, especially the dead as the search and rescue operations continued, and the projects were brought that more bodies could be found.
He decried the situation created by Wednesday night’s rain and the flood that mangled buildings and took hundreds of lives.
According to Suleiman, the state government,under the watch of Umar Bargo, had instituted a rapid response mechanism in reaction to the tragic incident .
He added that the distribution relief materials had started but the scope of rehabilitation work was overwhelming as the damage caused by the flood was unprecedented in the history of the state.
