GKS Elects Eghagha, Others Laity Leaders

The God’s Kingdom Society, ( GKS,) has held its 48th Lay member conference at the Church headquarters, Salem City, Warri, Delta State Nigeria with the election of new officers to pilot the affairs of the Laity for the next two years.
The conference was declared open by the President of the Church, Brother Felix Ekundayo Adedokun. In his opening address, he thanked Almighty God for journey mercies to conferees and observers while urging all to conduct themselves orderly with the fear of God .
He charge conferees to be peaceful and be guided by the best interest of the kingdom work in their deliberations.
The chairman of the Laity, Brother (Prof.) Hope Eghagha, addressed the conference on the theme of the conference ” Be Anxious For Nothing,” drawn from Philippians 4 verse 6. He emphasized that Saint Paul’s admonition to the Christians in Philippi is timeless and universal. He made it clear that ” while anxiety is a common thing with humanity, it has led to a lot of medical challenges. He cited panic disorder, post-traumatic disorder, social disorder, and mental disorientation, amongst others, as some of the fall out of anxiety. He also noted that anxiety causes negative psychological and spiritual sensitivity in persons.
Professor Eghagha charged members as true Christians to adopt prayer as a key antidote to deal with anxiety. He warned that anxiety can lead to hypertension, taking thoughtless and harmful as well as regrettable decisions. He cautioned that anxiety is a slow killer, quoting Ephesians 6:18 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17. He concluded with the admonition of Saint Paul in 1 Corinthians 16:13, which says, ” Watch ye, stand fast in Faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
The highlight of the conference was the election of officers. Most of the serving officers were voted back for another two years term.
Officers re- elected include Bro ( Professor) Hope Eghagha, Chairman. Bro. Chinedu Nwawuba, Vice- Chairman, Bro. Abednego Harbor, Secretary and Bro Eldard Fregene, Public Relation Officer amongst others.
The conference was declared closed by the president of the Church, Bro. Felix Ekundayo Adedokun and climaxed with a special thanksgiving service.
