The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri has reaffirmed his commitment in providing qualitative and standard education to the students of the polytechnic with a promise to maintain high academic standard.
Professor Ufuophut-Biri who gave this assurance during the 2025 combined convocation ceremony at the school in Otefe-Oghara, assured that the school would continue to excel in producing high skillful manpower for the development of Nigeria.
He said that there are more laudable programmes and innovations that would be implemented to improve the quality of education of the graduates from the school.
He further said his administration has improved on the structure and learning facilities of the school with the cooperation of the staff and support from the departmental heads and management team; stressing that collective efforts has made the school record this modest achievement.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri who attributed the success and achievements of his administration to the cooperation of the staff and management of the school, seeks for more cooperation to achieve more in the years ahead.
He explained that his administration was fully committed to significantly upgrade the facilities to continue to strive to uphold and improve on the set standard.
According to him “We have introduced several innovations with technologically know-how which made our graduates academically sound and competent as well as innovative in their various vocations and skillful in performance of assigned duty. The graduates from Delta State Polytechnic Oghara are competent manpower that can compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world. I am proud of them.”
He expressed joy that his three years administration has made some remarkable achievements both in academic and technological innovation as well as upgrading the facilities of the school.
He assured that the reforms he embarked upon has yielded fruitful results leading to improved infrastructural projects with prudent management of the available resources, even though there were some difficulties and challenges, the school was able to surmount them.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri commended the students for their discipline and diligence in their studies and urged them to work hard to actualize their dreams and aspirations and become more useful citizens in the society.
He also commended the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori for the assistant given to the school since his assumption of office and assured that the governor would be present at the convocation ceremony as a visitor to the polytechnic, assuring that an administrative block would be named to honour him.
The 2nd combined convocation lecture titled: “Taking Nigeria to the World and the World to Nigeria through Technology and Innovation Education in the Era of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence” would be delivered by Professor Chux Gervase Iwu, SBDG Chair in Entrepreneurship in Higher Education, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, University of the Western Cape, South Africa.
