Kano Athletes Road Mishap Death Toll Rises to 22—–Survivor
Says journalists,;medical staff involved

Latest figures indicate that the tally of the dead in today’s fatal road crash involving the Kano State contingent to the recent National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State has risen.
A survivor, Ado Salisu, told newsmen at the Kura General hospital, where he is receiving treatment, said the toll had risen to 22.
According to him, the toll was his personal count of the corpses
He said the bus conveying the bridge fell off the road near the Dakatsalle bridge in Kura local government area of Kano State, as the athletes and others returned from the festival which ended a couple of days ago in Ogun State.
Salisu confirmed that the dead included the driver of the bus, medical personnel and technical staff attached to the contingent.
Journalists from the state who covered the festival were also among the casualties , he added.
The bus was conveying some 35 persons at the time it suffered the poor fate.
Both the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state and authorities of the Kano State Sport Commission had separately confirmed the sad development earlier today.
Kano State won a total of 29; medals during the festival, and Salisu lamented that some of those who won the medals had died in the accident.
He said he remained in degp shock as to what really caused the mishap.
