The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the dates for the upcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States.
According to the schedule released by the Commission, the Ekiti State governorship election will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2026, while voters in Osun State will head to the polls on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed the dates during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly-appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), which took place in Abuja on Friday, May 30, 2025. The new RECs were recently confirmed by the National Assembly.
Professor Yakubu also noted that the Commission is in the final stages of preparations for several bye-elections aimed at filling vacant seats in both the National and State Houses of Assembly.
