21 Die, 10 Missing After Flood Sweeps Across Mokwa,Niger State
Details have emerged of how Wednesday night ‘s downpour triggered a flash flood that caused massive losses in human lives and property.
At least 21 persons died, while 10 others remained missing at press time, believed swept away by the flood, which also submerged / swept away 51 houses.
Two communities -Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State- were most impacted, according to the Acting Director -General of the Nigerian State Emergency Management Agency( NSEMA), Ibrahim Hussaini, who said volunteers had recovered the bodies of 21 victims, while 10 remained missing.
He added that some of the victims of the flood, including an unnamed woman and two of her children, were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
