The Delta State Government has paid N3.5billion in part funding via the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in the last two years.
The Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, made the disclosure today while addressing the Delta State House of Assembly, DTHA.
He said that his government, which will be two years old tomorrow, had also recruited 621 staff for its tertiary schools.
Oborevwori said that, out of the tally of 621 , the Delta University, DELSU, Abraka, had 100, while the University of Delta, Agbor, and Dennis Osadebe University, Asaba, had 140 each.
According to him, the other higher schools, including Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi -Uku, also benefitted from the recruitment exercise.
He said that the administration usually approved the recruitment of 3, 497 teaching and Non- teaching staff for the basic school system in order to strengthen learning at that critical level of primary education
