Joint security operatives in Anambra State have successfully raided a criminal camp in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area, reportedly discovering and destroying a cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The operation, carried out on Friday, involved a combined team of the police, military, and Anambra State Vigilante Group.
The joint security team extended their offensive operations to the identified hideout, uncovering a local bomb factory and recovering various locally- made IEDs.
The camp was reportedly one of the last strongholds that a secessionist group which had remained impenetrable for over two years, used as a base to wreak havoc across the state.
One of the buried IEDs exploded during the raid, causing significant damage to the road, but fortunately, no lives were lost.
The security agencies have maintained a strong operational presence in the area, reinforcing efforts to reclaim and secure the region from criminal elements.
This recent operation demonstrates the continued efforts of joint security forces in Anambra State to dismantle criminal networks and ensure public safety.
Recall that, in a similar operation in December 2024, joint security forces raided a gunmen’s camp in Nimo community, Njikoka Local Government Area, recovering 19 unexploded IEDs and inflicting significant injuries on fleeing suspects.
