20 SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER JAMB HACKING OF 2025 JAMB RESULT
The Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian Police have arrested 20 suspects in Abuja linked to a major cybercrime syndicate responsible for hacking the 2025 JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) results. Over 100 individuals are believed to be part of the network, which also targeted NECO servers across Nigeria. The suspects confessed to manipulating scores for wealthy candidates and intentionally sabotaging the CBT system to discredit JAMB and discourage its use in future WAEC and NECO exams.
The syndicate used malicious software to take remote control of CBT center systems, scrambling questions and answers to distort the results of honest candidates. They also deployed rogue routers near CBT centers to override official systems and provide real-time answers to candidates who paid between ₦700,000 and ₦2 million.
This cyberattack led to widespread failure among innocent students, while the syndicate made millions. Arrests have been made in multiple states including Lagos, Edo, Anambra, Kano, and Delta. Authorities are withholding suspects’ identities ahead of formal court proceedings.
