NSF: Edo Makes Strong Statement In Weightlifting, Taekwondo as team harvest more Gold at Ogun games
Team Edo has continued with their impressive performance at the National Sports Festival,2024. Ogun Games with a strong statement as they harvested more gold in weightlifting, taekwondo and Kunful on Wednesday.
Team Edo at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikenne, Ogun State,made a strong statement in the weightlifting event as Daniel Abhulimen delivered an outstanding performance in the 109kg men’s weightlifting category, clinching 2 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal.
Daniel Abhulimen’s remarkable achievement at that time further boosts Edo’s medal haul, raising the gold to six.
Jerry Igbinosu also clinched gold in the 80kg weightlifting category at the Civic Centre, Ikenne.
Late in the evening,Esohe Idah ruthlessly despatched her opponent to secure gold medal in the -75kg Kung-fu
In the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay team of Yinlayefa Edenotu, Nkonye Chukwunedum, Peremoboere Kimikiagha, and Victoria Ajakaiye—shone at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, winning silver.
Earlier in the day,Louis Owie also made a good impression, finishing second in the 100m backstroke heat.
Team Edo secured silver in the badminton game
at the Alake Sports Centre
Henry Aghomon was rewarded with silver in Dart 301 (male), while Robert Jegede clinched bronze in Dart TDB (male).
In tennis, Omotayo Blessing advanced to the second round in the women’s singles, while Chima won his opening match in the men’s singles and awaits his next opponent.
In cycling, Isa Momoh earned silver in the 1km sprint, while Divine Ogbe secured bronze in the same event.
Meanwhile, Charles Chuka-Ikani has claimed silver in the -56kg category of kung fu
Team Edo has again demonstrated its strength and winning mentality in combat games as James Gift secured a Gold Medal in the female category of
Taekwondo 57kg featherweight .
Blessing Abani was not left out of the medal harvest, after settling for a Bronze Medal in the 73kg middleweight category.
The hope of more gold harvest is high for team Edo as their female Cricket Team won Zamfara by 10 wickets to edge towards clinching Gold.
Team Edo is also prepared to begin action in
