Senator Lawal Adamu flays critics, says ‘I’ve changed Kaduna’s political landscape’
… lists ‘unprecedented achievements,’ dismisses group’s threat to work against his re-election in 2027
Senator Lawal Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, on Tuesday, lambasted a group, Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD) for threatening to work against his re-election into the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
KCMD had accused Senator Usman of non-performance and failure to fulfill his campaign promises since election into the National Assembly in 2023.
But Senator Usman in a press release titled, “Our Response the Shameless Lies By a Faceless Group, Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD), Against Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman,” issued by the lawmaker’s Media and Publicity Office, dismissed the KCMD’s threat as “laughable” and “infantile,” stressing that he has brought “unprecedented developments” to his constituency and electorate in the less than two years he had been representing them in the National Assembly.
Accusing the KCMD of deliberately peddling “malicious lies” about him, the Senator emphasised that he is too busy with his legislative duties aimed at delivering the real dividends of democracy to his constituency and the Nigerian nation than engage in any argument with “jobless hirelings.”
The press release noted that Senator Usman’s several achievements and developmental feats in less than 24 months have brought great relief to his constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District, who had earlier been unlucky to be saddled with “misfits” who represented them in the National Assembly before his election in 2023.
It noted that the evidence of Senator Usman’s achievements abounds in “various undisputable concrete forms” in terms of his unprecedented constituency projects and empower programmes.
The statement added, “At the risk of sounding immodest, the Kaduna Central Senatorial District for which the two immediate past Senators have no record of achievements they can flaunt, is the same constituency where the people have continued to hail and acknowledge the unprecedented achievements already recorded by the incumbent Senator LA in less than two years in the Senate. Parents, students and other constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District have continued to shower encomium on their amiable lawmaker, with many beneficiaries of Senator LA’s various constituency projects and programmes sharing testimonies about how his supports have positively impacted their lives in different ramifications.”
It further stated that for political opponents, particularly the KCMD, to “falsely accuse Senator LA of non-performance, is, to say the least, futile, unconscionable and a failed attempt to cover up their sponsors’ gross inadequacies and monumental failure in serving the people, when they were given the mandate in the recent past,” adding, “Just like the other belligerent faceless groups, the KCMD, alongside their masterminds, we believe, is suffering from a collective amnesia and intoxicated by the crumbs of the filthy lucre they’re being fed by their sponsors.”
Highlighting Senator Usman’s achievements in the less than two years he had spent as the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central, the statement listed the construction of 100 smart primary school buildings fully equipped with modern learning facilities, hundreds of millions of Naira worth of scholarships, provision of over 200 electricity transformers to light up homes across the seven local government areas, boreholes for potable water, solar lights, entrepreneurial training and provision of over 30,000 tons of fertilizers for farmers, sponsorship of hundreds of students for WAEC and UTME (JAMB) examinations, business startup capital for 500 beneficiaries, payment of registration fees for over 1000 tertiary institution students, training for over 100 women in soap making, training for over 200 beneficiaries in fish farming as well as other skills acquisition training for over 1000 other beneficiaries.
The press release added, “In continuation of his gesture of payment of tuition fees of indigent students across the state, Senator LA has also fulfilled his promise by giving the sum of between N100,000 and N150,000 bursary allowances to over 200 students in the Humanities and Sciences, respectively, across his Senatorial District, having announced the setting aside of N500 million for settling tuition fees for hundreds of students of tertiary institutions in his constituency. Over 1000 students drawn from across the Senatorial District have been awarded scholarships by the lawmaker.
“Of course, the scholarship given by Senator LA will go a long way in relieving many parents of the financial burden of funding their children’s education.”
The statement further noted that, to facilitate the transportation across his constituency, finishing touches are being put to Senator Usman’s plan to construct over 20,000 kilometres of roads traversing the seven local government areas of his senatorial district.
On the lawmaker’s legislative achievements, the press release mentioned Usman’s motion to expedite the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, which received unanimous approval from the Senate, as well as four crucial motions and four bills currently in their third reading stages.
