A coalition of The United Kingdom, France and Canada has threatened to impose stiff sanctions against Israel for its blockade of the Palestinian enclave of Gaza and its military action in the strip.
The statement by the leaders of the three Western countries is the strongest yet against the Jewish state which has blocked all humanitarian aid into the enclave for the past nearly three months.
The coalition said unless Israel ended its blockade and military action, it could impose unspecified sanctions against Israel which has previously defied all criticisms and calls for restraint in its high heel military operation in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank.
The move comes as Foreign Ministers of 22 nations today called for a decisive end to the war on Gaza and the West Bank.
The Foreign Ministers meet tomorrow to lay out the skeleton of their collective reactions to the continued Israeli blockade and military action.
Israel, Sunday night , agreed to a partial easing of the blockade by letting know what it called “basic amounts of food” into the enclave.
But aids groups and other interests, including the United Nations, have roundly denounced the move.
