……Gives a Roadmap for Delta’s Economic Growth
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been commended for his commitment to improving Delta State through the MORE Agenda. Air Vice Marshal Frank Ajobena (Rtd.), a former Military Administrator of Abia State, described Oborevwori as a leader who keeps his promises, particularly in infrastructure development and environmental improvements.
Speaking in Mereje, Okpe LGA, Ajobena acknowledged the Governor’s remarkable progress in road construction and urban renewal efforts, including awarding contracts to Julius Berger for two flyovers. These projects, he said, are positively impacting the state.
However, Ajobena emphasized the need for further investments in energy infrastructure. With power now on the concurrent legislative list, he urged the Governor to take advantage of this policy shift to develop sustainable electricity projects that would attract investors and drive economic growth.
He also advocated for a revival of the Songhai Farm in Amukpe, Sapele, to provide structured agricultural training. To ensure effective use of agricultural loans, he suggested that the government provide essential farming inputs rather than cash disbursements.
On security, Ajobena called for the adoption of ranching to resolve the long-standing farmers-herders conflict, urging the federal government to take decisive action. He also criticized President Tinubu’s involvement in the Rivers State political crisis, labeling it an overreach of executive powers.
Ajobena further stressed the importance of skill acquisition in the educational system, recommending a curriculum review to equip students with practical skills that will ease their transition into the workforce. Additionally, he called on Nigerian workers to embrace discipline and integrity to ensure the longevity of businesses and investments.
