The Senate has officially recorded the defection of three senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors are Senators Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South).
Their switch was announced during Tuesday’s plenary session, days after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu and their public declaration to join the ruling party.
With their defection, the APC now holds 68 seats in the 10th Senate, further solidifying its majority. The PDP holds 30 seats, Labour Party 5, Social Democratic Party (SDP) 2, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) 1, and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) 1.
The announcement was witnessed by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, and Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Yusuf Sununu, among others.
