First Batch of Afrikaner Refugees Land In US From South Africa
The first batch of white South African refugees have landed in Dallas, America.
All 49 Afrikaners left South Africa today and arrived in America this evening where the vast majority would be resettled in Texas.
The group comprises the first batch of White South Africans whom American President, Donald Trump, said were being violently attacked by black South Africans.
But Trump did not provide proof of the alleged xenophobic attacks on the Afrikaners by their black compatriots, and the South African government has roundly denied the charges.
Trump offered accelerated citizenship to any of the Afrikaners willing to relocate to America.
He did not indicate details of the incentives on offer for those willing to relocate.
News of the arrival in America of the Afrikaners has attracted scathing criticisms of the American government’ s move, with many accusing Trump of racism in his choice of who to accord accelerated citizenship.
The arrival comes as the American Presidency has taken stiff immigration measures, including freeze and deportations.
Tens of thousands of migrants have been reported since the beginning of the subsisting term of President Trump.
