Most PDP defectors in Delta state Yet To Register with APC– Hilary Ibude
In what seems to be an intriguing development, defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State have yet to formally register with their new party, the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
IKa South Local Government Chairman of APC , Mr Hilary Fada Ibude, who disclised this lamented that 99.5 percent of PDP defectors to the APC in the local government were yet to register with the party.
Ibude disclosed this during a media chat at Agbor during an interview with journalists.
According to him,” I want to make it known to the public that 99.5 percent of PDP to the APC in Ika South Local Government Area are yet to register with our party. They are still adamant to register after one week Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced their defections from PDP to the APC. Apart from members of Delta Unity Group, DUG, who were duly registered, the new PDP defectors are still reluctant to register. Less than 0.5 percent of them have been registered with the APC.
Ibude noted, “You cannot claim that you are a member of the APC when you are not registered.with the party It’s only those who have APC membership cards that we are going to recognize as members of our great party. However, the door of APC in Ika South is open to all persons who are eligible and prepared to register as members. Interested people should go to their various wards to register and they will be given their party membership cards without any hesitation”.
On the question of requirements before registration, Ibude stated that registration was free except for some persons who would be required to submit membership cards of their former political parties so as to know their level of seriousness to join APC.
He added, “Though, we are not forcing anyone to join our party, APC, it’s good to welcome people who are serious to work with us”.
He said that there would be no special consideration for anyone coming into APC newly but consideration could be given to new members who are going to show serious commitment in the activities of the party.
He used the medium to call on Ika people to fully embrace APC as it was poised to efficiently serve their interest.
